Florence Nightingale

As I am nearing the end of Nursing School, we begin to learn all the nursing theories and ethics involved with nursing. One cannot get through nursing school without learning about Florence Nightingale (12 May 1820-13 August 1910)
Don't know who she is? Well, she is known as the "Mother of Nursing". She is truly someone who made Nursing what it is today. To clarify, Nursing is said to have been around since the beginning of time. (Someone had to help the caveman after he almost got killed dinosaur right?!?!) Early on, people who did the job of the "nurse" were usually nuns, or widows. Then, during the time of the Holy Wars (Crusades), most nurses were men, who cared for the wounded during war. In 1854, during the Crimean war, Nightingale was appointed as head of a group of nurses that worked in Crimea during the war. It is important to note that during this time, nurses were usually prostitutes whose punishment was working as a nurse at hospitals. So for Nightingale to CHOOSE nursing as her "calling" was an outrage in the eyes of her family, who were very wealthy and socially successful and educated.
Her success during the during the Crimean War was due to her methods of improving sanitation and hygiene at the camps where she cared for injured soldiers. This success led her to begin developing schools of nursing.
Her theories of nursing care are believed to be the first nursing theories available to improve the care that nurses give their patients. Her theories in nursing include: how a person is influenced by the environment, how nursing is a "calling", and how we as nurses can affect the environment to facilitate health and recovery from illness.
PHEW!! That was alot of information! And it wasn't even the tip of the iceberg in all there is to say about Florence Nightingale! Just thought I'd keep it short and sweet.

UNTIL NEXT TIME! Adios!

Adding Friends

Hello everyone.
I have recently added A TON of new blogs that I will be following. I ask that in return, I get a few followers back! I'm not sure if it tells the Blogger that I have added them, but I hope that if the people that I added, SEE that i added them, that I get a few new followers! :)
You may be asking, "Why do I want new followers?". Well the simple answer is: MONEY! In order to bring in a little bit of extra income, I have chosen to Monetize my blogs, as I'm sure many fellow bloggers have chosen to do as well. Monetezation of my blogs means that each time someone visits my blog, and clicks on an ad, I will get a portion of the money that that company makes for each click. So please, if you want to help a fellow blogger, PLEASE follow me, as I have followed you! And tell your friends to follow me too!!
Right now, my blog is pretty... umm... boring! (LOL). But the reason for that is, I have been in Nursing School for the past few years and if anyone has been through nursing school, it is like boot camp.. I really have not had time to do ANYTHING, especially blogging. So now that I am nearing the end of my Nursing School journey, I hope that I will have a little bit more time to write, and take pictures! Which I hope will make my blog a lot better, and bearable, to visit more often!
Well if you are reading this, I will only have to assume that you have visited my page, so I sincerely thank you for doing so! But don't just leave! Add me! Follow my blog! The more the merrier!!

Starting Trends

So, i have started MY FINAL CLASS IN NURSING!! I'm so happy! I can't believe that I have made it this far! But at the same time, I wonder why the heck it took me so long! This class will be all about the laws and ethics in Nursing, and basically "tying it all together". My first hospital day is tomorrow, and... I cant believe I'm saying this... I'M EXCITED FOR IT!! I used to always have so much anxiety for clinicals, but luckily, I have an AMAZING instructor for my clinicals and I feel so much more confident now than I ever have before.
Some dates you might want to know:
Thursday, November 17, 2011- MY LAST DAY OF CLINICALS!
Tuesday, December 13, 2011- CANDLIGHTING CEREMONY (For non-nursing students, this is basically graduation from nursing school. It is a very wonderful ceremony!)
Wednesday, December 14, 2011 COLLEGE GRADUATION (I'm not sure if I will be attending this one, the Candlelighting is the important one for me.)

I may or may not be having a Graduation party, it depends on how many RSVP's I get. Hey, I am fine with a nice dinner or something, but I figured it would be nice to have some old friends get back together.

That's pretty much it for now! Hopefully, I will have time to continue these blogs!!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

First of all, I'd like to apologize for not writing on this thing like i promised i would. I tend to start writing with the intention of keeping up with it, but I usually let writing go to the sidelines, since its not my favorite thing to do! So here is a quick update of what's going on in my life right now
So, thank God! i am finally, after 6 months, moving back home to my house! Here's the scoop:
In December, my family was selling the house, and we had an offer, so we started the moving process. My parents wanted to try to move to Ocala area, so they rented a house in Dunnellon, FL, a small town outside of Ocala. I have to admit, it was gorgeous. The small town scene is definitely something I could get used to. And the house! It was so pretty!
Well, anyways, things didnt quite work out as we had hoped in Ocala. It was next to impossible for my parents to get a job up there, so as of now, we have cancelled our rental up there, and have plans to move back to our old house.
Now during these 6 months, my dad and I have been living in my grandparents house. Let me tell you, when I asked God to grant me patience, I didn't know it would be through testing my patience LIKE THAT! I'm so grateful for all that they do for me, but seriously, if I never have to live with them again, I'd be a happy person. I've been told, its because they're old, they are set in their ways... But wow, I've never seen such backwards thinking in my life.. Pretty much everyday, they would do something that me and my dad would just have to look at each other and scratch our heads like WTF?!?!
So now we're moving back to our house. OUR house. I can't wait! Again, I'm so grateful for my grandparents allowing us to stay here, because I'm sure it couldn't have been easy for them either, but I can't WAIT to get the heck out of here!! Hopefully by Tuesday, we will be moved in, and I will be immediately starting to paint and redo my bedroom and bathroom.
My bedroom will be a lilac purple. (Pictures to follow) and my bathroom will be a nice minty green, and it will go very well with my pink bathroom things. (Pink and green have always been my fave color combo). I can't wait! I know I'm going to hate the process, but I'm sure I will love the results!
Well, that's pretty much what is going on in my life right now! I'll take pics of the bedroom and bathroom before and after to show the changes!

Stupid People in Miami Can't Park

I went to Target today and was trapped between 2 retards that don't know how to park!! the one on the right was decently ok, because they were already there before I parked, so i was able to kind of give myself some distance. But the ones on my left arrived AFTER i parked so i had no choice!! Well, as you may or may not know, i have an SUV (Ford Escape), so getting out of a tight spot is not really easy when the 2 people next to you don't know how to park!! Anywho, my PMS side must be out today because pretty much everything is getting on my nerves!! SOOO, i decided to leave a note on their windshield saying  "SERIOUSLY, LEARN HOW TO PARK!"
Which brings me to the point of this particular post... i want to create a flyer that I can print out and keep in my car and place on cars of stupid people that park too close!! What do you guys think?? PS, if you guys have any images I can use for the flyer, I'd love to see them!!

OMG! so I was looking for an image to use for this post, and there is actually a website that is specifically for what i wanted!! it is called You Park Like an Asshole .... They have flyers that you can print out and place on the cars that piss you off!! They are a little bit plain though so I think i am just going to make my own!

So neither of these are my cars but i found the picture online and that's how it felt leaving Target!

Anyways, END OF RANT!

Reasons Why Nursing School Sucks

As per request of Debbie, I am posting reasons why nursing school sucks, besides the obvious, that i am essentially kicked out for 6 months until i can return to Cardio class in August! I found these lists online and they are sooo true!!

Instructors don't have a clue.
Most instructors are unrealistic demanding psychopaths.
Most instructors are total dumbasses.
Nursing school equals weight gain.
Two more classes of hell left!
The Nursing Program is not realistic to the real world.
Instructors stuck in dark ages of practice.
Nursing school equals homicide and/or suicide.
 It just sucks.
If you drop out now then no research project to do.
 It still sucks.
 Class-mates are idiots.
 Nursing school decreases sexual relations.
Nursing Diagnoses are just a joke.
 Care plans are unrealistic.
Instructors don't live in the "real world."
 Instructors cannot teach.
It is a f*cking waste of time.

Once you graduate, you don't use most of what you learned.

My Food Blog

Ok, so I haven't loaded any videos yet on this page but I hope to start loading videos soon, within the next few weeks. If there are any requests for any restaurants/meals let me know and I will film them!

Netflix

SOOOO... i have 83 movies in my queue for Netflix. and I currently have my account on hold because I didn't want to spend $15 a month on it when I'm so broke! but now I have so much free time I'm really considering re-opening my account. On top of that, Annette got me hooked on Roswell, so I really want to start watching that now too!! PS any good movies that I should add on to my queue??

Lilly Baby

So i figured my first post should be about something that I love MOST!!! And that is my baby, Lilly.... She is currently 3 years old and still thinks she is a little baby!! She is an Italian Greyhound mixed with Poodle. Wierd mix, I know, but didnt she come out so cute?! Lilly is good at many things: eating, sleeping, barking, asking for food while you're eating, and giving me plenty of WTF looks when I do something crazy to her. Anyways, not much else to write about her, other then I love her WAY to much to be normal. If anyone has a cure to this illness of Puppy Love then please let me know!
TTYL,
